From Small Beginnings

There is a well known parable we so often quote. It is the parable of the mustard seed. It states I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Matthew 17:20 It is a great statement Christ told us about what type of faith we should have. But many of times we confuse this statement as meaning we should have minimum faith. We often forget about the previous statement told by Christ about what a mustard seed can do "The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; 32 it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches." Matthew 13:31-32 I would even venture out and say that his followers may have heard his previous statements and linked the two. And They may have came up with the notion that our faith must grow as well. From a tiny seed to a tree. As soon as we learn about Christ and accept him we have that seed, our actions and our knowledge of what God calls us to do, as well as trials and tribulations water that seed. This causes our faith to grow into a tree big enough for birds to perch on the branches. All of this can happen with one little seed called faith and a lot of watering from God.
